The 1911 ejector pin fixture from Apex Machining is a precision steel jig that locks the ejector to the frame during fitting, keeping the ejector pin hole aligned while you ream or install the pin. No more walking pins, no more guesswork — just a repeatable, solid setup for 1911 and 2011 builds.

Key Features

  • Billet steel construction — WHY IT MATTERS: Heat-treated and Melonite-finished, this fixture won’t warp or wear out after dozens of builds. The 0.250” thick base keeps the ejector square to the frame.
  • Brass-tipped set screws — WHY IT MATTERS: Three set screws with soft brass tips hold the ejector in position without scratching the ejector or frame. You can torque them securely and still get a clean removal.
  • Precision pin alignment — WHY IT MATTERS: The fixture indexes off the frame rails and the ejector slot, so the ejector pin hole stays concentric with the frame hole. This eliminates the common issue of an off-center pin that binds.
  • Universal 1911/2011 fit — WHY IT MATTERS: Works with standard 1911 frames, double-stack 2011 frames, and even some custom wide-body builds. Just clamp, align, and pin.
  • Compact workbench footprint — WHY IT MATTERS: At roughly 3” x 1.5”, it lives in your tool drawer or pistol case without taking up bench space. You can even use it in a vise.

Who It’s For

This fixture is for the builder who’s done one too many 1911 ejector swaps with a punch and a prayer. If you’re fitting a new ejector, replacing a broken ejector, or building from an 80% frame, you need the ejector pin hole to be dead-nuts aligned. The Apex fixture gives you that without a mill or drill press.

Pros & Cons

  • Pro: Eliminates the need to eyeball the pin hole — repeatable alignment every time.
  • Pro: Melonite finish is corrosion-resistant and low-friction; won’t gall against the frame.
  • Con: The set screws are small (2-56 thread) — easy to strip if you overtighten. Go easy with the hex key.

FAQ

How to remove barrel link pin 1911?

To remove the barrel link pin on a 1911: field-strip the pistol, then use a roll pin punch (3/32” or 1/16”) and a small hammer to drive the pin out from the link. Support the barrel on a block to avoid bending the link. The Apex Ejector Pin Fixture is not used for this step — it’s for the ejector pin, not the barrel link pin. But having a solid fixture for the ejector makes the whole build process faster.

How to remove firing pin from 1911?

To remove the firing pin from a 1911: push the firing pin stop plate down about 1/8 inch with a punch or small screwdriver, then slide it out of the slide. The firing pin and spring will come out the back. Use a firing pin stop tool or a paper clip to depress the pin if the spring is stiff. This is a separate operation from the ejector pin fixture, but if you’re doing a full strip, the fixture keeps your frame stable while you work on the slide.

What 1911 ejector pin size does this fixture support?

The Apex fixture supports the standard 1911 ejector pin size of 0.092” (2.34 mm) diameter, which covers 99% of factory and aftermarket 1911/2011 frames. Some custom frames use a 0.125” pin — verify your frame spec before purchase.

Will this work with a 2011 double-stack frame?

Yes, the fixture clamps onto the frame rails, which are the same width (0.700”) on both 1911 and 2011 frames. The ejector slot depth is also identical. Per Apex specs, it fits all standard 2011 frames including STI, SVI, and Atlas.
